Marketers - How Does New Business Sound?

In today’s marketplace it can be hard for businesses to make themselves heard. And, if they want to influence purchase decision making, they must get noticed audibly. Sounds are really important for our emotional decisions. They add to the experience. We have approximately 25,000 receptors in our eardrums, each sending messages to different parts of our brain, including our subconscious where more than half of all consumer purchase decisions are made.

Direct mail offers you a unique way to make sure your message is received loud and clear by appealing to your customer’s five senses. For this week's Engage the Senses challenge, we sent marketers in Ireland a direct mail communication that asked them to whistle and their very own robot beeped back at them. Sometimes the robot reacted to high pitched sounds while he was still in the envelope, which prompted people to enquire if their colleague's phone was beeping or if an alarm had been set off. Upon searching, and holding the envelope up to their ear, they found it was our mailing. The surprise element meant they just had to open it, read it and talk about the experience. Job done. Direct mail cut through and delivered it's message. Again.

Discover how to use this incredibly versatile medium at our An Post Engage the Senses event, where you will learn how to develop intriguing campaigns that are sure to hit a chord with your target audience.
